In boom times we forget we live a dream, an imagination. Dollars are real, the dollars paid to us are real and the things we buy with them are real.
But Dollars; Currency, are not real. Since pre-historic man used shells to barter for goods, currency has been the mark of humanity. A promise of humans to other humans, to pay. With goods. Or served time. With the advent of religion, we added a curse to those who profit from lending those same shells, (or sheckels). Interest on the dream became a dividing line between our Gods.
In our current unfolding unwinding of the economic system we’ve all believed in, like a nightmare but true second life, truths we held as fact are revealing themselves as what they’ve always been: Dreams.
When we moved from agrarian to industrial several centuries back, a guys with names like Sinclair or Marx noticed failings in the dream of currency or capitalism. Some, like Marx, offered alternative dreams where all worked to ability yet all were provided for. And as capitalism is failing against the greed of humans now, Communism failed against the competitive nature of humans as the animals we factually are.
I’m not going to deny I’m loving the bust. No, I don’t
empathize with you or anyone losing their jobs. Mean? Yes, I think it will be
considered mean. But you’ve been dreaming, and my or anyone’s attempt to keep
you dreaming is more of the same thing that got you here.
